November 2013

Before he was unable to make a choice because he didn’t know what would happen. Now that he knows what will happen, he is unable to make a choice

Maybe one night I’ll fall asleep
and find my way to a dream
where you are not the glass
that bites at my heels
with every step I take.

Maybe I won’t be bleeding
in my longing,
maybe I won’t have to wake up
to a pain that’s worse
than open wounds.

Say what you like but that win was all down to David Moyes. By far the best we’ve looked all season, and the difference was composure, movement off the ball, teamwork, discipline. This was a tactical victory of David Moyes over Arsene Wegner, and probably the first appearance of Manchester United team playing like a Moyes team.

Kagawa, Van Persie and Rooney just seem to love playing together. There is very good team somewhere in here, and even if Moyes can’t find it, the squad is strong enough to supply enough different teams to last us out the season. We are not even a third of the way through yet and Arsenal’s tiny squad is already starting to buckle and break. Whose year this will be is anyone’s guess, consistency will be key and the identity of the real front-runners may not be clear until the new year.

“It’s a massive lift, a great weekend for us ahead of the international break. Our aim is to be top or thereabouts at the New Year.”—

Wayne Rooney - Manchester United beat Arsenal 1-0 at the Old Trafford.

Good win for ManUtd, nullifying Arsenal’s threat. Not many chances in the game. Wayne Rooney leading the way as always.

Good grief Man United are an awful team to watch. no flair, imagination or magic. the polish was wearing off in the last couple of seasons under Fergie, but they were never this bad.

Has Fellaini always been this average? Or has his just been this way since he joined United? His control is terrible his passes never advances play and I don’t recall any goal threat from him, which was supposed to be something Moyes thought he could contribute. The red card was deserved and pretty much summed up his caliber.

Apart from that, United seem to be lacking any style in their play, I think every team carries a few middleweights but this current selection seems to be unusually mediocre for a top team.

Real Sociedad 0-0 Manchester United

The conquistador

I will conquer land for you:
a quiet place away from this city
where there are more trees
than souls, and each soul is both
rooted in the Earth and
dancing around the Moon;
a place where the stars are
not afraid to come out and play
for fear of the People

A very good first half, followed by a sloppy second half - another important win, so well done Manchester United. Now I’m almost certain United will be in the mix for the EPL title this season. I don’t worry about result in Arsenal vs Liverpool match- none of them are capable of winning the League, though I’d happily see Liverpool lose any game. I only care about City/Chelsea, they are the ones to watch.

“It can take time to settle in and it has for us but Manchester United usually make slow starts and get better as the season goes on. The players have great habits from the previous manager and they have a winning mentality which I see every day.”—

David Moyes - after wining 3-1 against Fulham at the Craven Cottage

Disappointed not to get clean sheet
