It appears that over the past few weeks that Moyes has finally realized that he has a pretty decent squad to choose from, with some highly talented youngsters. Moyes will grow quickly as a manager and he is handling the task admirably, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, good win tonight.
Always great to see the team scoring. Great to have a player like Hernandez who can come into the team and score some goals too. If RVP can get back to the level he was at last year and Rooney can keep up his good start to the season, goals definitely won’t be the problem!
Manchester United 4-0 Norwich City
David Moyes - after wining 3-2 against Stoke City at the Old Trafford. United were 1-2 behind at half time.
Good tactical substitutions by Moyes, but then he had to go for it and it worked.
Finally starting to appear like a Manchester United team. United besieged the Stoke goal for most of the match. The only reason people would have got that impression is because Stoke’s attacks were so rare that they immediately got noticed.
It was easy to lose count of United’s attacks though.
Better substitutions, better reaction in the end, got the result.
Happier.
No complaints tonight.
Finally felt I was watching the real Manchester United, everyone played well, Giggs rolling back the years, but I think it was more to do with Sociedad’s non existing midfield.
Rooney and Kagawa combined really well, on any other night we would’ve scored five past that team.
Moyes must build on this performance, and hope he recognizes what caused an obvious improvement in our team’s play. He must keep the core of our midfield from tonight’s game, and we’ll be on our way to the top.
It was free flowing football from us after a long time, going to sleep much better tonight.
Yes this isn’t a vintage Manchester United team but the idea that they are somehow an average team is laughable. Average teams finish mid-table and don’t win titles.
Moyes has got so much wrong in his short reign that I don’t think he will fully recover from it. But we have to wait until the end of the season before making a proper judgement. However if we finish outside the top 4 then he has to go.
My main problem with Moyes is not that he hasn’t won anything but that he doesn’t have a clear footballing philosophy. He just sets his teams up in a basic 4-4-2 formation and ask them to keep their shape and get crosses in. That might have worked a few years ago but football at the top level has moved on but I’m afraid Moyes hasn’t and I don’t think he ever will.
David Moyes - manager of Manchester United after drawing 1-1 against Southampton at the Old Trafford.
Oh shut up David! He has turned ManUtd into a mid-table team.
This one gave me a laugh so I’m sneaking it in here at the end of the Q&A project.
I’m not laughing at you but it is sort of a funny question. I can speak to it though from experience.
To me, the term “photogenic” means someone looks completely different in a photograph than they do in real life. I can think of two specific shoots I’ve had in my career where I’ve come across this.
One was a shoot I did for a clothing company. The company hired the models we were using for the shoot and this one girl showed up at the studio door and, well, I was worried. She was a “pretty” enough girl but I didn’t think she was going to be the right fit for what the company wanted but it was the day of the shoot, the company hired her, it was their deal and not mine. I’d do the best I could.
She went into hair and makeup and stepped out for the first look she was to be photographed in for the day. I’m going to sound crass and mean and I don’t want to but this girl had a horse face. Her face was long and exaggerated. She had a compelling / interesting / off putting look to her in equal parts.
She stepped in, I pulled the camera up, took a shot, and then looked at the result and…. she was stunning. Amazing. In two dimensions this girl was world class. I had to work to not show my shock. She was photogenic under any light and with any lens at any angle. She looked great.
The next one I remember is my wife’s previous drummer, Noah. Noah is a good looking dude. You know. You look at him and you say… Yeah. Good lookin’ enough dude. Then you put a camera on him and, like the story above, he was striking. Like me, a basic old dude, saying “Damn!” He brings an intensity to a photograph that you just don’t see when you are staring at him in the face.
Those are the extremes I’ve run into. I usually run into more of what you are talking about. A very attractive subject/client walks in the door. You think your day is going to be an easy one because they are so good looking that you can’t go wrong with anything you shoot. You pull your camera up, take a photo, and…. well…. ummmmm…. hmmmm. Maybe that’s not the best angle for them. You change your light and …. thud. You change focal length…. thud. You change angles…. Nothing you do seems to capture their beauty.
I’ve had beautiful girls and hot guys in front of my lens that I had to work so hard to get a decent photo of them. Their looks and features just don’t translate in photographs.
So what is this? I don’t know. I’ve been trying to figure it out for years. I’ve read articles about scientists trying to measure “beauty”. I’ve talked to fashion photographers who deal with this stuff a lot. I’ve heard a lot of stories about average looking girls and guys who are amazing models because of this “element X” that they hold. And I’ve heard the stories of drop dead gorgeous people being horrible models because they look bad in photographs.
All of this has not been a “common” experience for me. Meaning, I don’t run into this kind of thing all the time. Whatever people look like in real life typically translates into their photos. 9 times out of 10.
Another commentary on this is, and I run into this ALL the time…. Females, typically, are their own worst critic and their own worst enemy. I’ve taken some photos that I was really proud of and then shown them to the client and they are unhappy with them. Not with the photos but of themselves. “Here is a striking photo of you.” “Oh GOD! No! I hate that photo! I look so ugly / fat / old / whatever.” And it’s a great photo!
So… maybe you’re beautiful in real life but it’s difficult to get a great photo of you. Maybe your husband is the photogenic one. Maybe photos of you are awesome and you just tear them apart because you have a different idea of what you look like in your head and the image in front of you is different than that. Or maybe you are too critical of yourself. I can’t really tell without photographing you two myself.
Cheers,
Zack
United are gonna demolish the Saints this weekend. I just think that United have too many good players to let Moyes destroy them completely. Rooney’s playing well, RVP scored a hat-trick, Carrick was decent for England, and De Gea looks way better than last season. They have problems at the back, but I’m sure they can outscore the opposition.

I don’t understand people who put cream and sugar in their coffee. Coffee is bitter. Why ruin the flavor and its healthy properties.
Everyone’s criticising that Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull are making the sport very boring to watch. I can understand that by not getting recent races live in ESPN Star Sports - instead they chose to broadcast even boring cricket. Their domination is the way the sport is.
Dominate the opening races, open up a lead. All the other teams stop developing the current car and go on developing next years model - which in turn leads to him dominating the rest of the season.
I couldn’t care less whether he’s likeable or not (although personally, he isn’t).
Domination by anyone in a sport (Schumacher, Federer, Woods, Loeb, whoever) makes that sport boring as hell. I hope Vettel’s opposition up their game because watching him win every week is tedious as hell.
Twitter went live mid-2006. If you joined the microblogging site at launch and tweeted three times a day every day since then, you would have penned around 8,000 tweets.
This helps put the number of tweets shown on your account in perspective. If you have tweeted over that 8,000 benchmark, then you’re obviously an above-average tweeter. If you’ve tweeted significantly over that number, it may give people pause when considering whether to follow you.
A better team would have beaten Man United today. Van Persie and Rooney were very poor and when Welbeck and Valencia came on they made no impact. Only for Januzaj today who to be fair had a great game United could have lost.
Sunderland just gave up after the second goal and if they had gone on and had a go at United they could have got something from the game.
United lack any real drive and any cutting edge up front. If they keep playing like this they won’t finish in the top four. And that had to be the minimum for Moyes this season.
